If, by any chance, your computer are hung and gone unresponsive because of certain issues such as unresponsive programme, too slow or whatever it is ~I know, it's annoying, especially when you have something urgent to do~ Press CTRL+ALT+DEL or Right-click on the taskbar and select START TASK MANAGER to open the TASKMANAGER.
Go to 'PROCESS' tab and right click 'explorer.exe' and then click 'END PROCESS'. You can also do this by selecting the 'explorer.exe' then hit the 'END PROCESS' button at the bottom of the taskmanager window ~just as shown in the picture~
After explorer.exe is gone, in the 'TASK MANAGER' tab, click 'NEW TASK'. In the file menu of the Task manager, type 'explorer.exe'.

APPLICABLE ONLY FOR EXPLORER.EXE
I'm not talking about "INTERNET EXPLORER", I'm talking about "EXPLORER". Both are different. Mind youP/S: But, you can also use the same method for unresponsive running programme that you cannot kill using the "END TASK" button. Just in case~~
