 All about TYPEWRITER WORDS

The longest common English word that can be typed using only the left hand is STEWARDESSES (12 letters) and REVERBERATED (11 letters).

AFTERCATARACTS and TESSERADECADES, each 14 letters long, are the longest words that can be typed using only those letters normally typed with the left hand.

The longest English word that can be typed with the right hand only is JOHNY-JUMP-UP (a type of flower) and NIMINY-PIMINY. The more common is LOLLIPOP (8 letters).

The words TYPEWRITER and RUPTUREWORT can be typed entirely using the top row of keys. It has been speculated that this may have been a factor in the choice of keys for ease of demonstration.

URIPYOURETER (a collection of urine & pus in the ureter), 12 letters long, is the longest word that can be typed using the top row keys of a typewriter. Another are;-
    PROPRIETORY, PROTEROTYPE and RUPTUREWORT (11 letters)

    PEPPERROOT, PEPPERWORT, PERPETUITY, PEWTERWORT,

    PIROUETTER, PREREQUIRE, PRETORTURE, PROPRIETOR, 

    PROPERTIES, REPERTOIRE, TETTERWORT and TYPEWRITER (1O letters)

"THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG" is a phrase that contains all of the letters of the alphabet. Another is "PACK MYBOX WITH FIVE DOZEN LIQUOR JUGS"

LEPTOTHRICOSIS and LEUCOCYTOZOANS, each 14 letters long, are the longest words that can be typed using strictly alternating hands.

POSTMUSCULAR, 12 letters long, is the longest word that is normally typed by switching hands every two letters.

SHAKALSHAS,10 letters long, is the longest word that can be typed using only those letters in the middle row of a typewriter.

DEEDED, HUMMUM, MUHUHU and MUUMUU each 6 letters long, are the longest words that are normally typed with just one finger.

Words that use each of the eight typing fingers just once include:

ALPINERS, BIPLANES, CAPTIONS, CLASPING, ESOPHAGI, HARELIPS, IMPALERS, JACKPOTS, LIFESPAN, PANELIST, PLACINGS, PLAINEST, PLAUDITS, PLEASING, PRALINES and SCALPING.
